Awards and Celebrations
We believe that rewarding individual endeavour and talent are crucially important to the development of self-confidence and of commitment. We encourage all children to strive to do their best at all times, this is rewarded in class through teacher recognition, stickers, individual and class effort points and an invitation to show work to the Headteacher.
Alongside this, each week, we recognise both star of the week and values star of the week from each class. These children are asked to come to the front of the Church and are applauded for their hard work and effort in class and around the school. Our values star will have been noticed by their teachers for displaying that they carry out our school values of love, compassion, courage, justice, equality, forgiveness and peace in their everyday actions. Celebration newsletter are sent home on Friday identifying these children.
Children also receive reward certificates from the Headteacher when they have achieved 30 effort points. They also receive certificates when they have completed their rainbow reading challenge, all of these are presented in Church assembly on a Friday.
At the end of each academic year we hold an awards ceremony for all years. Three children from each year group are awarded a certificate and trophy each for the following categories - outstanding attainment, progress and citizenship. There are also additional Year 6 awards for outstanding attainment in English, Maths, Science, PE and Expressive arts. Presentations are also made for The Stone Award (highest attainment), The Jon Watson Award (Community citizenship) and leaver of the Year. Parents are invited to this celebration.
We encourage children to bring in achievement certificates and trophies that they have been awarded throughout the year so that we can celebrate in assemblies. This ranges from swimming and sport to library challenges. All of our children are incredibly talented and we enjoy celebrating their successes.
Our Ofsted 2018 inspection report highlighted that:
"Pupil's achievements are celebrated through 'proud books', work in the community and high quality displays promoting pupils' effort."
