Outdoor Learning
At Lympstone, we love the great outdoors and believe that being out in the elements really brings learning to life! Through nature, we can build on and extend curiosities and wonder through the freedom that being in the 'Classroom of Outdoors' can provide.
We believe that exploration and imagination is key to building life long learners and through outdoor education are given the reigns to learn in the that they want to and is a place where they can independently make choices in a calming and stimulating environment and become truly immersed in their learning.
Classes are out and about in the village on a regular basis, sketching and drawing, collecting blackberries before returning to cook apple and blackberry crumble and visiting the estuary.
Nature School and Beach School
Our children love to visit our very own Nature School and the Estuary for Beach School sessions and it is wonderful to have these right on our doorstep. Our Key Stage One children visit our Nature School once a week and Key Stage Two children have timetabled activities as well. Our children in Oak and Willow classes have the opportunity for Beach School sessions in the Spring and Summer term.
Our sessions at nature School and Beach School provide open-ended learning, which enhances skills and decision-making, problem solving, teamwork and mindfulness; putting our school values into action.
We teach our children the importance of Nature, how to love and respect it and most importantly how to have the most fun in it!
Our Ofsted 2022 inspection report highlights that pupils:
"talk enthusiastically about sport, contributing to the church and the local community"
